Our Story

The first Barkaritaville Pet Resort was created over a decade ago to meet a need for a luxury pet resort offering a full range of services including lodging, daycare, grooming, and retail. Today, we are proud to meet that need with two premier locations. Both our San Antonio and Corpus Christi resorts are dedicated to bringing a full-service, fun, and enriching experience for your pet and you! At Barkaritaville, you can customize your pet’s experience with our menu of services including:

• Lodging in a luxury pet hotel with unique indoor/outdoor accommodations
• Doggie daycare options to suit your pet’s personality and play style
• Professional grooming
• 24-hour self-serve dog wash (DIY dog wash)
• Private/group training
• Feline accommodations in our Catmandu

All of these services are delivered by trained, professional, and loving Pet Care Specialists. Our founder, Laina Schonefeld, not only helps set the bar for pet care at our resorts, but for pet care worldwide. She is a Certified Professional Animal Care Operator (CPACO), an elite designation achieved by Laina and awarded by the Professional Animal Care Certification Council (PACCC), an independent organization dedicated to raising the bar for professional pet care.

In addition to the pets directly in our care, Barkaritaville is further committed to animal welfare in our community and beyond. Indeed, it is a key component in our company culture. Laina also served on the board of, and Barkaritaville continues to work with, our local People Assisting Animal Control (PAAC), a nonprofit on a mission to promote responsible pet ownership, improve the lives of pets in our community, and reduce the number of unwanted and stray animals entering our shelters.
